بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
تَنۡزِيۡلٌ مِّنَ الرَّحۡمٰنِ الرَّحِيۡمِۚ﴿۲﴾ كِتٰبٌ فُصِّلَتۡ اٰيٰتُهٗ قُرۡاٰنًا عَرَبِيًّا لِّقَوۡمٍ يَّعۡلَمُوۡنَۙ﴿۳﴾ بَشِيۡرًا وَّنَذِيۡرًاۚ فَاَعۡرَضَ اَكۡثَرُهُمۡ فَهُمۡ لَا يَسۡمَعُوۡنَ﴿۴﴾ وَقَالُوۡا قُلُوۡبُنَا فِىۡۤ اَكِنَّةٍ مِّمَّا تَدۡعُوۡنَاۤ اِلَيۡهِ وَفِىۡۤ اٰذَانِنَا وَقۡرٌ وَّمِنۡۢ بَيۡنِنَا وَبَيۡنِكَ حِجَابٌ فَاعۡمَلۡ اِنَّنَا عٰمِلُوۡنَ﴿۵﴾ قُلۡ اِنَّمَاۤ اَنَا بَشَرٌ مِّثۡلُكُمۡ يُوۡحٰٓى اِلَىَّ اَنَّمَاۤ اِلٰهُكُمۡ اِلٰـهٌ وَّاحِدٌ فَاسۡتَقِيۡمُوۡۤا اِلَيۡهِ وَاسۡتَغۡفِرُوۡهُؕ وَوَيۡلٌ لِّلۡمُشۡرِكِيۡنَۙ﴿۶﴾ الَّذِيۡنَ لَا يُؤۡتُوۡنَ الزَّكٰوةَ وَهُمۡ بِالۡاٰخِرَةِ هُمۡ كٰفِرُوۡنَ﴿۷﴾ اِنَّ الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا وَعَمِلُوۡا الصّٰلِحٰتِ لَهُمۡ اَجۡرٌ غَيۡرُ مَمۡنُوۡنٍ﴿۸﴾ قُلۡ اَٮِٕنَّكُمۡ لَتَكۡفُرُوۡنَ بِالَّذِىۡ خَلَقَ الۡاَرۡضَ فِىۡ يَوۡمَيۡنِ وَتَجۡعَلُوۡنَ لَهٗۤ اَنۡدَادًاؕ ذٰلِكَ رَبُّ الۡعٰلَمِيۡنَۚ﴿۹﴾ وَجَعَلَ فِيۡهَا رَوَاسِىَ مِنۡ فَوۡقِهَا وَبٰرَكَ فِيۡهَا وَقَدَّرَ فِيۡهَاۤ اَقۡوَاتَهَا فِىۡۤ اَرۡبَعَةِ اَيَّامٍؕ سَوَآءً لِّلسَّآٮِٕلِيۡنَ﴿۱۰﴾ ثُمَّ اسۡتَوٰىۤ اِلَى السَّمَآءِ وَهِىَ دُخَانٌ فَقَالَ لَهَا وَلِلۡاَرۡضِ ائۡتِيَا طَوۡعًا اَوۡ كَرۡهًاؕ قَالَتَاۤ اَتَيۡنَا طَآٮِٕعِيۡنَ﴿۱۱﴾ فَقَضٰٮهُنَّ سَبۡعَ سَمٰوَاتٍ فِىۡ يَوۡمَيۡنِ وَاَوۡحٰى فِىۡ كُلِّ سَمَآءٍ اَمۡرَهَاؕ وَزَيَّنَّا السَّمَآءَ الدُّنۡيَا بِمَصَابِيۡحَ ۖ وَحِفۡظًاؕ ذٰلِكَ تَقۡدِيۡرُ الۡعَزِيۡزِ الۡعَلِيۡمِ﴿۱۲﴾ فَاِنۡ اَعۡرَضُوۡا فَقُلۡ اَنۡذَرۡتُكُمۡ صٰعِقَةً مِّثۡلَ صٰعِقَةِ عَادٍ وَّثَمُوۡدَؕ﴿۱۳﴾ اِذۡ جَآءَتۡهُمُ الرُّسُلُ مِنۡۢ بَيۡنِ اَيۡدِيۡهِمۡ وَمِنۡ خَلۡفِهِمۡ اَلَّا تَعۡبُدُوۡۤا اِلَّا اللّٰهَؕ قَالُوۡا لَوۡ شَآءَ رَبُّنَا لَاَنۡزَلَ مَلٰٓٮِٕكَةً فَاِنَّا بِمَاۤ اُرۡسِلۡتُمۡ بِهٖ كٰفِرُوۡنَ﴿۱۴﴾ فَاَمَّا عَادٌ فَاسۡتَكۡبَرُوۡا فِىۡ الۡاَرۡضِ بِغَيۡرِ الۡحَقِّ وَقَالُوۡا مَنۡ اَشَدُّ مِنَّا قُوَّةً ؕ اَوَلَمۡ يَرَوۡا اَنَّ اللّٰهَ الَّذِىۡ خَلَقَهُمۡ هُوَ اَشَدُّ مِنۡهُمۡ قُوَّةً ؕ وَكَانُوۡا بِاٰيٰتِنَا يَجۡحَدُوۡنَ﴿۱۵﴾ فَاَرۡسَلۡنَا عَلَيۡهِمۡ رِيۡحًا صَرۡصَرًا فِىۡۤ اَيَّامٍ نَّحِسَاتٍ لِّنُذِيۡقَهُمۡ عَذَابَ الۡخِزۡىِ فِىۡ الۡحَيٰوةِ الدُّنۡيَاؕ وَلَعَذَابُ الۡاٰخِرَةِ اَخۡزٰى وَهُمۡ لَا يُنۡصَرُوۡنَ﴿۱۶﴾ وَاَمَّا ثَمُوۡدُ فَهَدَيۡنٰهُمۡ فَاسۡتَحَبُّوۡا الۡعَمٰى عَلَى الۡهُدٰى فَاَخَذَتۡهُمۡ صٰعِقَةُ الۡعَذَابِ الۡهُوۡنِ بِمَا كَانُوۡا يَكۡسِبُوۡنَۚ﴿۱۷﴾ وَ نَجَّيۡنَا الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا وَكَانُوۡا يَتَّقُوۡنَ﴿۱۸﴾ وَيَوۡمَ يُحۡشَرُ اَعۡدَآءُ اللّٰهِ اِلَى النَّارِ فَهُمۡ يُوۡزَعُوۡنَ﴿۱۹﴾ حَتّٰٓى اِذَا مَا جَآءُوۡهَا شَهِدَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ سَمۡعُهُمۡ وَاَبۡصَارُهُمۡ وَجُلُوۡدُهُمۡ بِمَا كَانُوۡا يَعۡمَلُوۡنَ﴿۲۰﴾ وَقَالُوۡا لِجُلُوۡدِهِمۡ لِمَ شَهِدتُّمۡ عَلَيۡنَاؕ قَالُوۡۤا اَنۡطَقَنَا اللّٰهُ الَّذِىۡۤ اَنۡطَقَ كُلَّ شَىۡءٍ وَّهُوَ خَلَقَكُمۡ اَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ وَّاِلَيۡهِ تُرۡجَعُوۡنَ﴿۲۱﴾ وَمَا كُنۡتُمۡ تَسۡتَتِرُوۡنَ اَنۡ يَّشۡهَدَ عَلَيۡكُمۡ سَمۡعُكُمۡ وَلَاۤ اَبۡصَارُكُمۡ وَلَا جُلُوۡدُكُمۡ وَلٰكِنۡ ظَنَنۡتُمۡ اَنَّ اللّٰهَ لَا يَعۡلَمُ كَثِيۡرًا مِّمَّا تَعۡمَلُوۡنَ﴿۲۲﴾ وَذٰلِكُمۡ ظَنُّكُمُ الَّذِىۡ ظَنَنۡتُمۡ بِرَبِّكُمۡ اَرۡدٰٮكُمۡ فَاَصۡبَحۡتُمۡ مِّنَ الۡخٰسِرِيۡنَ﴿۲۳﴾ فَاِنۡ يَّصۡبِرُوۡا فَالنَّارُ مَثۡوًى لَّهُمۡؕ وَاِنۡ يَّسۡتَعۡتِبُوۡا فَمَا هُمۡ مِّنَ الۡمُعۡتَبِيۡنَ﴿۲۴﴾ وَقَيَّضۡنَا لَهُمۡ قُرَنَآءَ فَزَيَّنُوۡا لَهُمۡ مَّا بَيۡنَ اَيۡدِيۡهِمۡ وَمَا خَلۡفَهُمۡ وَحَقَّ عَلَيۡهِمُ الۡقَوۡلُ فِىۡۤ اُمَمٍ قَدۡ خَلَتۡ مِنۡ قَبۡلِهِمۡ مِّنَ الۡجِنِّ وَالۡاِنۡسِۚ اِنَّهُمۡ كَانُوۡا خٰسِرِيۡنَ﴿۲۵﴾ وَقَالَ الَّذِيۡنَ كَفَرُوۡا لَا تَسۡمَعُوۡا لِهٰذَا الۡقُرۡاٰنِ وَالۡغَوۡا فِيۡهِ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تَغۡلِبُوۡنَ﴿۲۶﴾ فَلَـنُذِيۡقَنَّ الَّذِيۡنَ كَفَرُوۡا عَذَابًا شَدِيۡدًاۙ وَّلَنَجۡزِيَنَّهُمۡ اَسۡوَاَ الَّذِىۡ كَانُوۡا يَعۡمَلُوۡنَ﴿۲۷﴾ ذٰلِكَ جَزَآءُ اَعۡدَآءِ اللّٰهِ النَّارُۚ لَهُمۡ فِيۡهَا دَارُ الۡخُـلۡدِؕ جَزَآءًۢ بِمَا كَانُوۡا بِاٰيٰتِنَا يَجۡحَدُوۡنَ﴿۲۸﴾ وَقَالَ الَّذِيۡنَ كَفَرُوۡا رَبَّنَاۤ اَرِنَا الَّذَيۡنِ اَضَلّٰنَا مِنَ الۡجِنِّ وَالۡاِنۡسِ نَجۡعَلۡهُمَا تَحۡتَ اَقۡدَامِنَا لِيَكُوۡنَا مِنَ الۡاَسۡفَلِيۡنَ﴿۲۹﴾ اِنَّ الَّذِيۡنَ قَالُوۡا رَبُّنَا اللّٰهُ ثُمَّ اسۡتَقَامُوۡا تَتَنَزَّلُ عَلَيۡهِمُ الۡمَلٰٓٮِٕكَةُ اَلَّا تَخَافُوۡا وَلَا تَحۡزَنُوۡا وَاَبۡشِرُوۡا بِالۡجَـنَّةِ الَّتِىۡ كُنۡتُمۡ تُوۡعَدُوۡنَ﴿۳۰﴾ نَحۡنُ اَوۡلِيٰٓـؤُکُمۡ فِىۡ الۡحَيٰوةِ الدُّنۡيَا وَفِىۡ الۡاٰخِرَةِۚ وَلَـكُمۡ فِيۡهَا مَا تَشۡتَهِىۡۤ اَنۡفُسُكُمۡ وَلَـكُمۡ فِيۡهَا مَا تَدَّعُوۡنَؕ﴿۳۱﴾ نُزُلاً مِّنۡ غَفُوۡرٍ رَّحِيۡمٍ﴿۳۲﴾ وَمَنۡ اَحۡسَنُ قَوۡلاً مِّمَّنۡ دَعَاۤ اِلَى اللّٰهِ وَعَمِلَ صَلِحًا وَّقَالَ اِنَّنِىۡ مِنَ الۡمُسۡلِمِيۡنَ﴿۳۳﴾ وَلَا تَسۡتَوِىۡ الۡحَسَنَةُ وَ لَا السَّيِّئَةُ ؕ ادۡفَعۡ بِالَّتِىۡ هِىَ اَحۡسَنُ فَاِذَا الَّذِىۡ بَيۡنَكَ وَبَيۡنَهٗ عَدَاوَةٌ كَاَنَّهٗ وَلِىٌّ حَمِيۡمٌ﴿۳۴﴾ وَمَا يُلَقّٰٮهَاۤ اِلَّا الَّذِيۡنَ صَبَرُوۡاۚ وَمَا يُلَقّٰٮهَاۤ اِلَّا ذُوۡ حَظٍّ عَظِيۡمٍ﴿۳۵﴾ وَاِمَّا يَنۡزَغَنَّكَ مِنَ الشَّيۡطٰنِ نَزۡغٌ فَاسۡتَعِذۡ بِاللّٰهِؕ اِنَّهٗ هُوَ السَّمِيۡعُ الۡعَلِيۡمُ﴿۳۶﴾ وَمِنۡ اٰيٰتِهِ الَّيۡلُ وَالنَّهَارُ وَالشَّمۡسُ وَالۡقَمَرُؕ لَا تَسۡجُدُوۡا لِلشَّمۡسِ وَلَا لِلۡقَمَرِ وَاسۡجُدُوۡا لِلّٰهِ الَّذِىۡ خَلَقَهُنَّ اِنۡ كُنۡتُمۡ اِيَّاهُ تَعۡبُدُوۡنَ﴿۳۷﴾ فَاِنِ اسۡتَكۡبَرُوۡا فَالَّذِيۡنَ عِنۡدَ رَبِّكَ يُسَبِّحُوۡنَ لَهٗ بِالَّيۡلِ وَالنَّهَارِ وَهُمۡ لَا يَسۡـَٔـمُوۡنَ۩﴿۳۸﴾ وَمِنۡ اٰيٰتِهٖۤ اَنَّكَ تَرَى الۡاَرۡضَ خَاشِعَةً فَاِذَاۤ اَنۡزَلۡنَا عَلَيۡهَا الۡمَآءَ اهۡتَزَّتۡ وَرَبَتۡؕ اِنَّ الَّذِىۡۤ اَحۡيَاهَا لَمُحۡىِ الۡمَوۡتٰى ؕ اِنَّهٗ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَىۡءٍ قَدِيۡرٌ﴿۳۹﴾ اِنَّ الَّذِيۡنَ يُلۡحِدُوۡنَ فِىۡۤ اٰيٰتِنَا لَا يَخۡفَوۡنَ عَلَيۡنَاؕ اَفَمَنۡ يُّلۡقٰى فِىۡ النَّارِ خَيۡرٌ اَمۡ مَّنۡ يَّاۡتِىۡۤ اٰمِنًا يَّوۡمَ الۡقِيٰمَةِؕ اِعۡمَلُوۡا مَا شِئۡتُمۡۙ اِنَّهٗ بِمَا تَعۡمَلُوۡنَ بَصِيۡرٌ﴿۴۰﴾ اِنَّ الَّذِيۡنَ كَفَرُوۡا بِالذِّكۡرِ لَمَّا جَآءَهُمۡۚ وَاِنَّهٗ لَـكِتٰبٌ عَزِيۡزٌۙ﴿۴۱﴾ لَّا يَاۡتِيۡهِ الۡبَاطِلُ مِنۡۢ بَيۡنِ يَدَيۡهِ وَلَا مِنۡ خَلۡفِهٖؕ تَنۡزِيۡلٌ مِّنۡ حَكِيۡمٍ حَمِيۡدٍ﴿۴۲﴾ مَا يُقَالُ لَـكَ اِلَّا مَا قَدۡ قِيۡلَ لِلرُّسُلِ مِنۡ قَبۡلِكَؕ اِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَذُوۡ مَغۡفِرَةٍ وَّذُوۡ عِقَابٍ اَلِيۡمٍ﴿۴۳﴾ وَلَوۡ جَعَلۡنٰهُ قُرۡاٰنًا اَعۡجَمِيًّا لَّقَالُوۡا لَوۡلَا فُصِّلَتۡ اٰيٰتُهٗؕ ءَؔاَعۡجَمِىٌّ وَّعَرَبِىٌّ ؕ قُلۡ هُوَ لِلَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا هُدًى وَشِفَآءٌ ؕ وَ الَّذِيۡنَ لَا يُؤۡمِنُوۡنَ فِىۡۤ اٰذَانِهِمۡ وَقۡرٌ وَّهُوَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ عَمًىؕ اُولٰٓٮِٕكَ يُنَادَوۡنَ مِنۡ مَّكَانٍۢ بَعِيۡدٍ﴿۴۴﴾ وَلَقَدۡ اٰتَيۡنَا مُوۡسَى الۡكِتٰبَ فَاخۡتُلِفَ فِيۡهِؕ وَلَوۡلَا كَلِمَةٌ سَبَقَتۡ مِنۡ رَّبِّكَ لَـقُضِىَ بَيۡنَهُمۡؕ وَاِنَّهُمۡ لَفِىۡ شَكٍّ مِّنۡهُ مُرِيۡبٍ﴿۴۵﴾ مَنۡ عَمِلَ صَالِحًـا فَلِنَفۡسِهٖ وَمَنۡ اَسَآءَ فَعَلَيۡهَاؕ وَمَا رَبُّكَ بِظَلَّامٍ لِّلۡعَبِيۡدِ﴿۴۶﴾ اِلَيۡهِ يُرَدُّ عِلۡمُ السَّاعَةِؕ وَمَا تَخۡرُجُ مِنۡ ثَمَرٰتٍ مِّنۡ اَكۡمَامِهَا وَمَا تَحۡمِلُ مِنۡ اُنۡثٰى وَلَا تَضَعُ اِلَّا بِعِلۡمِهٖؕ وَيَوۡمَ يُنَادِيۡهِمۡ اَيۡنَ شُرَكَآءِىۡۙ قَالُـوۡۤا اٰذَنّٰكَۙ مَا مِنَّا مِنۡ شَهِيۡدٍۚ﴿۴۷﴾ وَضَلَّ عَنۡهُمۡ مَّا كَانُوۡا يَدۡعُوۡنَ مِنۡ قَبۡلُ وَظَنُّوۡا مَا لَهُمۡ مِّنۡ مَّحِيۡصٍ﴿۴۸﴾ لَّا يَسۡـَٔـمُ الۡاِنۡسَانُ مِنۡ دُعَآءِ الۡخَيۡرِ وَاِنۡ مَّسَّهُ الشَّرُّ فَيَـُٔـوۡسٌ قَنُوۡطٌ﴿۴۹﴾ وَلَٮِٕنۡ اَذَقۡنٰهُ رَحۡمَةً مِّنَّا مِنۡۢ بَعۡدِ ضَرَّآءَ مَسَّتۡهُ لَيَقُوۡلَنَّ هٰذَا لِىۡۙ وَمَاۤ اَظُنُّ السَّاعَةَ قَآٮِٕمَةً ۙ وَّلَٮِٕنۡ رُّجِعۡتُ اِلٰى رَبِّىۡۤ اِنَّ لِىۡ عِنۡدَهٗ لَـلۡحُسۡنٰىۚ فَلَنُنَبِّئَنَّ الَّذِيۡنَ كَفَرُوۡا بِمَا عَمِلُوۡا وَلَـنُذِيۡقَنَّهُمۡ مِّنۡ عَذَابٍ غَلِيۡظٍ﴿۵۰﴾ وَاِذَاۤ اَنۡعَمۡنَا عَلَى الۡاِنۡسَانِ اَعۡرَضَ وَنَاٰ بِجَانِبِهٖۚ وَاِذَا مَسَّهُ الشَّرُّ فَذُوۡ دُعَآءٍ عَرِيۡضٍ﴿۵۱﴾ قُلۡ اَرَءَيۡتُمۡ اِنۡ كَانَ مِنۡ عِنۡدِ اللّٰهِ ثُمَّ كَفَرۡتُمۡ بِهٖ مَنۡ اَضَلُّ مِمَّنۡ هُوَ فِىۡ شِقَاقٍۢ بَعِيۡدٍ﴿۵۲﴾ سَنُرِيۡهِمۡ اٰيٰتِنَا فِىۡ الۡاٰفَاقِ وَفِىۡۤ اَنۡفُسِهِمۡ حَتّٰى يَتَبَيَّنَ لَهُمۡ اَنَّهُ الۡحَـقُّ ؕ اَوَلَمۡ يَكۡفِ بِرَبِّكَ اَنَّهٗ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَىۡءٍ شَهِيۡدٌ﴿۵۳﴾ اَلَاۤ اِنَّهُمۡ فِىۡ مِرۡيَةٍ مِّنۡ لِّقَآءِ رَبِّهِمۡؕ اَلَاۤ اِنَّهٗ بِكُلِّ شَىۡءٍ مُّحِيۡطٌ﴿۵۴﴾

Surah Key Verses
٩ قُلْ أَئِنَّكُمْ لَتَكْفُرُونَ بِالَّذِي خَلَقَ الْأَرْضَ فِي يَوْمَيْنِ وَتَجْعَلُونَ لَهُ أَنْدَادًا ۚ ذَٰلِكَ رَبُّ الْعَالَمِينَ
9 Say, “Do you indeed disbelieve in He who created the earth in two days and attribute to Him equals? That is the Lord of the worlds.”
١٩ وَيَوْمَ يُحْشَرُ أَعْدَاءُ اللَّهِ إِلَى النَّارِ فَهُمْ يُوزَعُونَ
19 And [mention, O Muhammad], the Day when the enemies of Allah will be gathered to the Fire while they are [driven] assembled in rows,
٢٠ حَتَّىٰ إِذَا مَا جَاءُوهَا شَهِدَ عَلَيْهِمْ سَمْعُهُمْ وَأَبْصَارُهُمْ وَجُلُودُهُمْ بِمَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ
20 Until, when they reach it, their hearing and their eyes and their skins will testify against them of what they used to do.
٢٥ وَقَيَّضْنَا لَهُمْ قُرَنَاءَ فَزَيَّنُوا لَهُمْ مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَمَا خَلْفَهُمْ وَحَقَّ عَلَيْهِمُ الْقَوْلُ فِي أُمَمٍ قَدْ خَلَتْ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ مِنَ الْجِنِّ وَالْإِنْسِ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا خَاسِرِينَ
25 And We appointed for them companions who made attractive to them what was before them and what was behind them [of sin], and the word has come into effect upon them among nations which had passed on before them of jinn and men. Indeed, they [all] were losers.
٣٤ وَلَا تَسْتَوِي الْحَسَنَةُ وَلَا السَّيِّئَةُ ۚ ادْفَعْ بِالَّتِي هِيَ أَحْسَنُ فَإِذَا الَّذِي بَيْنَكَ وَبَيْنَهُ عَدَاوَةٌ كَأَنَّهُ وَلِيٌّ حَمِيمٌ
34 And not equal are the good deed and the bad. Repel [evil] by that [deed] which is better, and thereupon the one whom between you and him is enmity [will become] as though he was a devoted friend.
٤٤ وَلَوْ جَعَلْنَاهُ قُرْآنًا أَعْجَمِيًّا لَقَالُوا لَوْلَا فُصِّلَتْ آيَاتُهُ ۖ أَأَعْجَمِيٌّ وَعَرَبِيٌّ ۗ قُلْ هُوَ لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا هُدًى وَشِفَاءٌ ۖ وَالَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ فِي آذَانِهِمْ وَقْرٌ وَهُوَ عَلَيْهِمْ عَمًى ۚ أُولَٰئِكَ يُنَادَوْنَ مِنْ مَكَانٍ بَعِيدٍ
44 And if We had made it a non-Arabic Qur’an, they would have said, “Why are its verses not explained in detail [in our language]? Is it a foreign [recitation] and an Arab [messenger]?” Say, “It is, for those who believe, a guidance and cure.” And those who do not believe – in their ears is deafness, and it is upon them blindness. Those are being called from a distant place.
٥١ وَإِذَا أَنْعَمْنَا عَلَى الْإِنْسَانِ أَعْرَضَ وَنَأَىٰ بِجَانِبِهِ وَإِذَا مَسَّهُ الشَّرُّ فَذُو دُعَاءٍ عَرِيضٍ
51 And when We bestow favor upon man, he turns away and distances himself; but when evil touches him, then he is full of extensive supplication.

Explanation And Back Ground
This Surah has 54 verses. There are two names of this Surah “Ha Meem As-Sajdah” and “Fussilat”. There are 7 Surahs of Quran Surah no. 40-46 i.e Surah Mumin to Surah Ahqaf that begin with the word “حم” And these Surahs are also called “al-Hawamim”. These letters are called Mystery Abbreviated Letters OR Hurrof Al Muqattat a brief introduction of which is already given in Quran Statistics & Facts. The Name “Fussilat” means Explained in Detail’ which refers to the Holy Quran as in verses 3, and 44 that this book Quran and its verses are explained in detail.
It is a Meccan Surah revealed almost in the 3rd-5th year of Muhammad’s PBUH proclamation of prophethood. The subject matter of this Surah is Dawah/Invitation to the truth and Tauhid oneness of God. It shows that God’s signs are everywhere and warns people against denying them. It also explains what was the end of the disbelievers of past generations that refused to acknowledge the truth and did not submit to God.
There is a narration that after Hamza bin Abdul Muttalib’s acceptance of Islam, Meccans were in great distress and grief due to the increasing number of followers of the Prophet. One day in a sitting of Quraysh, Utbah bin Rabiah said: “Gents, if you like I would go and speak to Muhammad and give him some proposals. After that, he went to him and said: “O son of brother you know that you have a high status in the tribe because of your ancestry but because of your talking against our religion you have created divisions. Now I put some proposals think them and accept any of these. Prophet said, continue, and I shall listen.
Utbah said o son of brother if by your work and preaching new religion you want wealth and money we will give it to you so much that you would be the richest. If by this you want importance then we will make you our leader and a chief or if you want to be a king, we will make you a king. And if you are under the inspiration of a Jinn or a devil from whom you are not able to get rid then we will arrange the best physicians for you. Prophet said have you finished Utbah and on his affirmation Prophet pronounce بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ and start reciting this Surah until when he reached verse 38 the verse of Prostration. Prophet prostrated and said O Abul Walid this is my reply now you may act as you like. Utbah came back to Meccans, but his face was changed. Upon asking of people he said By God, I listened to something the like of which I have never attended or heard from anyone. I suggest leave Muhammad, if other tribes of Arab overcome him then you would be saved from not causing any harm to him and if Muhammad overcomes them his victory will be yours, and his honor will be yours. Listening to this the leaders of the tribe said O Utbah you too bewitched by Muhammad’s tongue.
