بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
اِذَا وَقَعَتِ الۡوَاقِعَةُۙ﴿۱﴾ لَيۡسَ لِـوَقۡعَتِهَا كَاذِبَةٌۘ﴿۲﴾ خَافِضَةٌ رَّافِعَةٌۙ﴿۳﴾ اِذَا رُجَّتِ الۡاَرۡضُ رَجًّاۙ﴿۴﴾ وَّبُسَّتِ الۡجِبَالُ بَسًّاۙ﴿۵﴾ فَكَانَتۡ هَبَآءً مُّنۡۢبَثًّاۙ﴿۶﴾ وَّكُنۡتُمۡ اَزۡوَاجًا ثَلٰثَةًؕ﴿۷﴾ فَاَصۡحٰبُ الۡمَيۡمَنَةِ ۙ مَاۤ اَصۡحٰبُ الۡمَيۡمَنَةِؕ﴿۸﴾ وَاَصۡحٰبُ الۡمَشۡـَٔـمَةِ ۙ مَاۤ اَصۡحٰبُ الۡمَشۡـَٔـمَةِؕ﴿۹﴾ وَالسّٰبِقُوۡنَ السّٰبِقُوۡنَۚ ۙ﴿۱۰﴾ اُولٰٓٮِٕكَ الۡمُقَرَّبُوۡنَۚ﴿۱۱﴾ فِىۡ جَنّٰتِ النَّعِيۡمِ﴿۱۲﴾ ثُلَّةٌ مِّنَ الۡاَوَّلِيۡنَۙ﴿۱۳﴾ وَقَلِيۡلٌ مِّنَ الۡاٰخِرِيۡنَؕ﴿۱۴﴾ عَلٰى سُرُرٍ مَّوۡضُوۡنَةٍۙ﴿۱۵﴾ مُّتَّكِـِٕـيۡنَ عَلَيۡهَا مُتَقٰبِلِيۡنَ﴿۱۶﴾ يَطُوۡفُ عَلَيۡهِمۡ وِلۡدَانٌ مُّخَلَّدُوۡنَۙ﴿۱۷﴾ بِاَكۡوَابٍ وَّاَبَارِيۡقَ ۙ وَكَاۡسٍ مِّنۡ مَّعِيۡنٍۙ﴿۱۸﴾ لَّا يُصَدَّعُوۡنَ عَنۡهَا وَلَا يُنۡزِفُوۡنَۙ﴿۱۹﴾ وَفَاكِهَةٍ مِّمَّا يَتَخَيَّرُوۡنَۙ﴿۲۰﴾ وَلَحۡمِ طَيۡرٍ مِّمَّا يَشۡتَهُوۡنَؕ﴿۲۱﴾ وَحُوۡرٌ عِيۡنٌۙ﴿۲۲﴾ كَاَمۡثَالِ اللُّـؤۡلُـوٴِالۡمَكۡنُوۡنِۚ﴿۲۳﴾ جَزَآءًۢ بِمَا كَانُوۡا يَعۡمَلُوۡنَ﴿۲۴﴾ لَا يَسۡمَعُوۡنَ فِيۡهَا لَغۡوًا وَّلَا تَاۡثِيۡمًاۙ﴿۲۵﴾ اِلَّا قِيۡلاً سَلٰمًا سَلٰمًا﴿۲۶﴾ وَاَصۡحٰبُ الۡيَمِيۡنِ ۙ مَاۤ اَصۡحٰبُ الۡيَمِيۡنِؕ﴿۲۷﴾ فِىۡ سِدۡرٍ مَّخۡضُوۡدٍۙ﴿۲۸﴾ وَّطَلۡحٍ مَّنۡضُوۡدٍۙ﴿۲۹﴾ وَظِلٍّ مَّمۡدُوۡدٍۙ﴿۳۰﴾ وَّ مَآءٍ مَّسۡكُوۡبٍۙ﴿۳۱﴾ وَّفَاكِهَةٍ كَثِيۡرَةٍۙ﴿۳۲﴾ لَّا مَقۡطُوۡعَةٍ وَّلَا مَمۡنُوۡعَةٍۙ﴿۳۳﴾ وَّ فُرُشٍ مَّرۡفُوۡعَةٍؕ﴿۳۴﴾ اِنَّاۤ اَنۡشَاۡنٰهُنَّ اِنۡشَآءًۙ﴿۳۵﴾ فَجَعَلۡنٰهُنَّ اَبۡكَارًاۙ﴿۳۶﴾ عُرُبًا اَتۡرَابًاۙ﴿۳۷﴾ لِّاَصۡحٰبِ الۡيَمِيۡنِؕ﴿۳۸﴾ ثُلَّةٌ مِّنَ الۡاَوَّلِيۡنَۙ﴿۳۹﴾ وَثُلَّةٌ مِّنَ الۡاٰخِرِيۡنَؕ﴿۴۰﴾ وَاَصۡحٰبُ الشِّمَالِ ۙ مَاۤ اَصۡحٰبُ الشِّمَالِؕ﴿۴۱﴾ فِىۡ سَمُوۡمٍ وَّحَمِيۡمٍۙ﴿۴۲﴾ وَّظِلٍّ مِّنۡ يَّحۡمُوۡمٍۙ﴿۴۳﴾ لَّا بَارِدٍ وَّلَا كَرِيۡمٍ﴿۴۴﴾ اِنَّهُمۡ كَانُوۡا قَبۡلَ ذٰلِكَ مُتۡرَفِيۡنَۚ ۖ﴿۴۵﴾ وَكَانُوۡا يُصِرُّوۡنَ عَلَى الۡحِنۡثِ الۡعَظِيۡمِۚ﴿۴۶﴾ وَكَانُوۡا يَقُوۡلُوۡنَ ۙ اَٮِٕذَا مِتۡنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَّعِظَامًا ءَاِنَّا لَمَبۡعُوۡثُوۡنَۙ﴿۴۷﴾ اَوَاٰبَآؤُنَا الۡاَوَّلُوۡنَ﴿۴۸﴾ قُلۡ اِنَّ الۡاَوَّلِيۡنَ وَالۡاٰخِرِيۡنَۙ﴿۴۹﴾ لَمَجۡمُوۡعُوۡنَ ۙ اِلٰى مِيۡقَاتِ يَوۡمٍ مَّعۡلُوۡمٍ﴿۵۰﴾ ثُمَّ اِنَّكُمۡ اَيُّهَا الضَّآلُّوۡنَ الۡمُكَذِّبُوۡنَۙ﴿۵۱﴾ لَاٰكِلُوۡنَ مِنۡ شَجَرٍ مِّنۡ زَقُّوۡمٍۙ﴿۵۲﴾ فَمٰلِــُٔوۡنَ مِنۡهَا الۡبُطُوۡنَۚ﴿۵۳﴾ فَشٰرِبُوۡنَ عَلَيۡهِ مِنَ الۡحَمِيۡمِۚ﴿۵۴﴾ فَشٰرِبُوۡنَ شُرۡبَ الۡهِيۡمِؕ﴿۵۵﴾ هٰذَا نُزُلُهُمۡ يَوۡمَ الدِّيۡنِؕ﴿۵۶﴾ نَحۡنُ خَلَقۡنٰكُمۡ فَلَوۡلَا تُصَدِّقُوۡنَ﴿۵۷﴾ اَفَرَءَيۡتُمۡ مَّا تُمۡنُوۡنَؕ﴿۵۸﴾ ءَاَنۡتُمۡ تَخۡلُقُوۡنَهٗۤ اَمۡ نَحۡنُ الۡخَـالِقُوۡنَ﴿۵۹﴾ نَحۡنُ قَدَّرۡنَا بَيۡنَكُمُ الۡمَوۡتَ وَمَا نَحۡنُ بِمَسۡبُوۡقِيۡنَۙ﴿۶۰﴾ عَلٰٓى اَنۡ نُّبَدِّلَ اَمۡثَالَكُمۡ وَنُـنۡشِئَكُمۡ فِىۡ مَا لَا تَعۡلَمُوۡنَ﴿۶۱﴾ وَلَـقَدۡ عَلِمۡتُمُ النَّشۡاَةَ الۡاُوۡلٰى فَلَوۡلَا تَذَكَّرُوۡنَ﴿۶۲﴾ اَفَرَءَيۡتُمۡ مَّا تَحۡرُثُوۡنَؕ﴿۶۳﴾ ءَاَنۡتُمۡ تَزۡرَعُوۡنَهٗۤ اَمۡ نَحۡنُ الزَّارِعُوۡنَ﴿۶۴﴾ لَوۡ نَشَآءُ لَجَـعَلۡنٰهُ حُطَامًا فَظَلۡتُمۡ تَفَكَّهُوۡنَ﴿۶۵﴾ اِنَّا لَمُغۡرَمُوۡنَۙ﴿۶۶﴾ بَلۡ نَحۡنُ مَحۡرُوۡمُوۡنَ﴿۶۷﴾ اَفَرَءَيۡتُمُ الۡمَآءَ الَّذِىۡ تَشۡرَبُوۡنَؕ﴿۶۸﴾ ءَاَنۡتُمۡ اَنۡزَلۡتُمُوۡهُ مِنَ الۡمُزۡنِ اَمۡ نَحۡنُ الۡمُنۡزِلُوۡنَ﴿۶۹﴾ لَوۡ نَشَآءُ جَعَلۡنٰهُ اُجَاجًا فَلَوۡلَا تَشۡكُرُوۡنَ﴿۷۰﴾ اَفَرَءَيۡتُمُ النَّارَ الَّتِىۡ تُوۡرُوۡنَؕ﴿۷۱﴾ ءَاَنۡتُمۡ اَنۡشَاۡتُمۡ شَجَرَتَهَاۤ اَمۡ نَحۡنُ الۡمُنۡشِـُٔـوۡنَ﴿۷۲﴾ نَحۡنُ جَعَلۡنٰهَا تَذۡكِرَةً وَّمَتَاعًا لِّلۡمُقۡوِيۡنَۚ﴿۷۳﴾ فَسَبِّحۡ بِاسۡمِ رَبِّكَ الۡعَظِيۡمِ﴿۷۴﴾ فَلَاۤ اُقۡسِمُ بِمَوٰقِعِ النُّجُوۡمِۙ﴿۷۵﴾ وَاِنَّهٗ لَقَسَمٌ لَّوۡ تَعۡلَمُوۡنَ عَظِيۡمٌۙ﴿۷۶﴾ اِنَّهٗ لَـقُرۡاٰنٌ كَرِيۡمٌۙ﴿۷۷﴾ فِىۡ كِتٰبٍ مَّكۡنُوۡنٍۙ﴿۷۸﴾ لَّا يَمَسُّهٗۤ اِلَّا الۡمُطَهَّرُوۡنَؕ﴿۷۹﴾ تَنۡزِيۡلٌ مِّنۡ رَّبِّ الۡعٰلَمِيۡنَ﴿۸۰﴾ اَفَبِهٰذَا الۡحَـدِيۡثِ اَنۡتُمۡ مُّدۡهِنُوۡنَۙ﴿۸۱﴾ وَتَجۡعَلُوۡنَ رِزۡقَكُمۡ اَنَّكُمۡ تُكَذِّبُوۡنَ﴿۸۲﴾ فَلَوۡلَاۤ اِذَا بَلَغَتِ الۡحُـلۡقُوۡمَۙ﴿۸۳﴾ وَاَنۡتُمۡ حِيۡنَٮِٕذٍ تَـنۡظُرُوۡنَۙ﴿۸۴﴾ وَنَحۡنُ اَقۡرَبُ اِلَيۡهِ مِنۡكُمۡ وَلٰـكِنۡ لَّا تُبۡصِرُوۡنَ﴿۸۵﴾ فَلَوۡلَاۤ اِنۡ كُنۡتُمۡ غَيۡرَ مَدِيۡنِيۡنَۙ﴿۸۶﴾ تَرۡجِعُوۡنَهَاۤ اِنۡ كُنۡتُمۡ صٰدِقِيۡنَ﴿۸۷﴾ فَاَمَّاۤ اِنۡ كَانَ مِنَ الۡمُقَرَّبِيۡنَۙ﴿۸۸﴾ فَرَوۡحٌ وَّ رَيۡحَانٌ ۙ وَّجَنَّتُ نَعِيۡمٍ﴿۸۹﴾ وَاَمَّاۤ اِنۡ كَانَ مِنۡ اَصۡحٰبِ الۡيَمِيۡنِۙ﴿۹۰﴾ فَسَلٰمٌ لَّكَ مِنۡ اَصۡحٰبِ الۡيَمِيۡنِؕ﴿۹۱﴾ وَاَمَّاۤ اِنۡ كَانَ مِنَ الۡمُكَذِّبِيۡنَ الضَّآلِّيۡنَۙ﴿۹۲﴾ فَنُزُلٌ مِّنۡ حَمِيۡمٍۙ﴿۹۳﴾ وَّتَصۡلِيَةُ جَحِيۡمٍ﴿۹۴﴾ اِنَّ هٰذَا لَهُوَ حَقُّ الۡيَـقِيۡنِۚ﴿۹۵﴾ فَسَبِّحۡ بِاسۡمِ رَبِّكَ الۡعَظِيۡمِ﴿۹۶﴾

Surah Key Verses
٧ وَكُنْتُمْ أَزْوَاجًا ثَلَاثَةً
7 And you become [of] three kinds:
٨ فَأَصْحَابُ الْمَيْمَنَةِ مَا أَصْحَابُ الْمَيْمَنَةِ
8 Then the companions of the right – what are the companions of the right?
١٠ وَالسَّابِقُونَ السَّابِقُونَ
10 And the forerunners, the forerunners –
٤١ وَأَصْحَابُ الشِّمَالِ مَا أَصْحَابُ الشِّمَالِ
41 And the companions of the left – what are the companions of the left?
٦٠ نَحْنُ قَدَّرْنَا بَيْنَكُمُ الْمَوْتَ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَسْبُوقِينَ
60 We have decreed death among you, and We are not to be outdone
٦١ عَلَىٰ أَنْ نُبَدِّلَ أَمْثَالَكُمْ وَنُنْشِئَكُمْ فِي مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَ
61 In that We will change your likenesses and produce you in that [form] which you do not know.
٧٥ فَلَا أُقْسِمُ بِمَوَاقِعِ النُّجُومِ
75 Then I swear by the setting of the stars,
٧٦ وَإِنَّهُ لَقَسَمٌ لَوْ تَعْلَمُونَ عَظِيمٌ
76 And indeed, it is an oath – if you could know – [most] great.

Explanation And Back Ground
his Surah has 96 verses divided into 3 Rukus/Sections. It takes its name from verse 1: إِذَا وَقَعَتِ الْوَاقِعَة ُ. The word “وَاقِعَةُ” is mentioned as the Inevitable event that will occur on the Day of Judgement. There are contradicting traditions for the revelation period of this Surah. Some say that it was revealed in Mecca and some say in Madina or a part of it was revealed in Madina. However, the majority of the commentators think that it is a Meccan Surah. They support their claim from the background of Surah Taha that when Umar bin Khattab after hearing about his sister’s embracement of Islam went to his sister’s house in anger and beaten his sister and brother law than it ended with his asking his sister to give him what she was reciting. Her sister replied that “None can touch it except the purified” Which is a clear verse of Surah Waqiah. Thus it shows that this Surah had been revealed even before Surah Taha in Mecca around 6 to 7 years before migration to Madina.
The Surah talks mainly about the Last day and depicts the whole senior in a powerful discourse. It states that on the Last Day, all Mankind will be divided into three groups. Then it tells the description and condition of each group — the rewards or punishment they would face.
Abu Ishaq reported that Abu Bakr said, “O Prophet of God PBUH! You are becoming gray” The Messenger replied,
شَيَّبَتْنِي هُودٌ وَالْوَاقِعَةُ وَالْمُرْسَلَاتُ وَعَمَّ يَتَسَاءَلُونَ وَإِذَا الشَّمْسُ كُوِّرَت
Surah Hud, Waqiah, Mursalat, Naba, and Takwir have made me gray.
Ibn Masood said I have heard Prophet of God PBUH saying, ‘He who recites Surah Waqiah every night, Poverty or Need will never afflict him.” This is the reason; this Surah is one of the most recited of the Quran.
