بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
تَنۡزِيۡلُ الۡكِتٰبِ مِنَ اللّٰهِ الۡعَزِيۡزِ الۡحَكِيۡمِ﴿۲﴾ اِنَّ فِىۡ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالۡاَرۡضِ لَاٰيٰتٍ لِّلۡمُؤۡمِنِيۡنَؕ﴿۳﴾ وَفِىۡ خَلۡقِكُمۡ وَمَا يَبُثُّ مِنۡ دَآبَّةٍ اٰيٰتٌ لِّقَوۡمٍ يُّوۡقِنُوۡنَۙ﴿۴﴾ وَاخۡتِلَافِ الَّيۡلِ وَالنَّهَارِ وَمَاۤ اَنۡزَلَ اللّٰهُ مِنَ السَّمَآءِ مِنۡ رِّزۡقٍ فَاَحۡيَا بِهِ الۡاَرۡضَ بَعۡدَ مَوۡتِهَا وَ تَصۡرِيۡفِ الرِّيٰحِ اٰيٰتٌ لِّقَوۡمٍ يَّعۡقِلُوۡنَ﴿۵﴾ تِلۡكَ اٰيٰتُ اللّٰهِ نَـتۡلُوۡهَا عَلَيۡكَ بِالۡحَقِّ ۚ فَبِاَىِّ حَدِيۡثِۭ بَعۡدَ اللّٰهِ وَاٰيٰتِهٖ يُؤۡمِنُوۡنَ﴿۶﴾ وَيۡلٌ لِّـكُلِّ اَفَّاكٍ اَثِيۡمٍۙ﴿۷﴾ يَّسۡمَعُ اٰيٰتِ اللّٰهِ تُتۡلٰى عَلَيۡهِ ثُمَّ يُصِرُّ مُسۡتَكۡبِرًا كَاَنۡ لَّمۡ يَسۡمَعۡهَاۚ فَبَشِّرۡهُ بِعَذَابٍ اَلِيۡمٍ﴿۸﴾ وَاِذَا عَلِمَ مِنۡ اٰيٰتِنَا شَيۡـًٔـا اتَّخَذَهَا هُزُوًاؕ اُولٰٓٮِٕكَ لَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ مُّهِيۡنٌؕ﴿۹﴾ مِّنۡ وَّرَآٮِٕهِمۡ جَهَنَّمُۚ وَلَا يُغۡنِىۡ عَنۡهُمۡ مَّا كَسَبُوۡا شَيۡـًٔـا وَّلَا مَا اتَّخَذُوۡا مِنۡ دُوۡنِ اللّٰهِ اَوۡلِيَآءَ ۚ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ عَظِيۡمٌؕ﴿۱۰﴾ هٰذَا هُدًى ۚ وَالَّذِيۡنَ كَفَرُوۡا بِاٰيٰتِ رَبِّهِمۡ لَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ مِّنۡ رِّجۡزٍ اَلِيۡمٌ﴿۱۱﴾ اللّٰهُ الَّذِىۡ سَخَّرَ لَكُمُ الۡبَحۡرَ لِتَجۡرِىَ الۡفُلۡكُ فِيۡهِ بِاَمۡرِهٖ وَلِتَبۡتَغُوۡا مِنۡ فَضۡلِهٖ وَلَعَلَّكُمۡ تَشۡكُرُوۡنَۚ﴿۱۲﴾ وَسَخَّرَ لَكُمۡ مَّا فِىۡ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَمَا فِىۡ الۡاَرۡضِ جَمِيۡعًا مِّنۡهُؕ اِنَّ فِىۡ ذٰلِكَ لَاٰيٰتٍ لِّقَوۡمٍ يَّتَفَكَّرُوۡنَ﴿۱۳﴾ قُل لِّلَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا يَغۡفِرُوۡا لِلَّذِيۡنَ لَا يَرۡجُوۡنَ اَيَّامَ اللّٰهِ لِيَجۡزِىَ قَوۡمًۢا بِمَا كَانُوۡا يَكۡسِبُوۡنَ﴿۱۴﴾ مَنۡ عَمِلَ صَالِحًـا فَلِنَفۡسِهٖۚ وَمَنۡ اَسَآءَ فَعَلَيۡهَا ثُمَّ اِلٰى رَبِّكُمۡ تُرۡجَعُوۡنَ﴿۱۵﴾ وَلَقَدۡ اٰتَيۡنَا بَنِىۡۤ اِسۡرآءِيۡلَ الۡكِتٰبَ وَالۡحُكۡمَ وَالنُّبُوَّةَ وَرَزَقۡنٰهُمۡ مِّنَ الطَّيِّبٰتِ وَفَضَّلۡنٰهُمۡ عَلَى الۡعٰلَمِيۡنَۚ﴿۱۶﴾ وَاٰتَيۡنٰهُمۡ بَيِّنٰتٍ مِّنَ الۡاَمۡرِ ۚ فَمَا اخۡتَلَفُوۡۤا اِلَّا مِنۡۢ بَعۡدِ مَا جَآءَهُمُ الۡعِلۡمُ ۙ بَغۡيًاۢ بَيۡنَهُمۡؕ اِنَّ رَبَّكَ يَقۡضِىۡ بَيۡنَهُمۡ يَوۡمَ الۡقِيٰمَةِ فِيۡمَا كَانُوۡا فِيۡهِ يَخۡتَلِفُوۡنَ﴿۱۷﴾ ثُمَّ جَعَلۡنٰكَ عَلٰى شَرِيۡعَةٍ مِّنَ الۡاَمۡرِ فَاتَّبِعۡهَا وَلَا تَتَّبِعۡ اَهۡوَآءَ الَّذِيۡنَ لَا يَعۡلَمُوۡنَ﴿۱۸﴾ اِنَّهُمۡ لَنۡ يُّغۡنُوۡا عَنۡكَ مِنَ اللّٰهِ شَيۡـًٔـاؕ وَ اِنَّ الظّٰلِمِيۡنَ بَعۡضُهُمۡ اَوۡلِيَآءُ بَعۡضٍ ۚ وَّاللّٰهُ وَلِىُّ الۡمُتَّقِيۡنَ﴿۱۹﴾ هٰذَا بَصَاٮِٕرُ لِلنَّاسِ وَهُدًى وَّرَحۡمَةٌ لِّقَوۡمٍ يُّوۡقِنُوۡنَ﴿۲۰﴾ اَمۡ حَسِبَ الَّذِيۡنَ اجۡتَرَحُوۡا السَّيِّاٰتِ اَنۡ نَّجۡعَلَهُمۡ كَالَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا وَعَمِلُوۡا الصّٰلِحٰتِ ۙ سَوَآءً مَّحۡيَاهُمۡ وَمَمَاتُهُمۡؕ سَآءَ مَا يَحۡكُمُوۡنَ﴿۲۱﴾ وَ خَلَقَ اللّٰهُ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالۡاَرۡضَ بِالۡحَقِّ وَلِتُجۡزٰى كُلُّ نَفۡسٍۢ بِمَا كَسَبَتۡ وَهُمۡ لَا يُظۡلَمُوۡنَ﴿۲۲﴾ اَفَرَءَيۡتَ مَنِ اتَّخَذَ اِلٰهَهٗ هٰوٮهُ وَاَضَلَّهُ اللّٰهُ عَلَىٰ عِلۡمٍ وَّخَتَمَ عَلَىٰ سَمۡعِهٖ وَقَلۡبِهٖ وَجَعَلَ عَلٰى بَصَرِهٖ غِشٰوَةً ؕ فَمَنۡ يَّهۡدِيۡهِ مِنۡۢ بَعۡدِ اللّٰهِؕ اَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُوۡنَ﴿۲۳﴾ وَقَالُوۡا مَا هِىَ اِلَّا حَيَاتُنَا الدُّنۡيَا نَمُوۡتُ وَنَحۡيَا وَمَا يُهۡلِكُنَاۤ اِلَّا الدَّهۡرُؕ وَمَا لَهُمۡ بِذٰلِكَ مِنۡ عِلۡمٍ ۚ اِنۡ هُمۡ اِلَّا يَظُنُّوۡنَ﴿۲۴﴾ وَاِذَا تُتۡلٰى عَلَيۡهِمۡ اٰيٰتُنَا بَيِّنٰتٍ مَّا كَانَ حُجَّتَهُمۡ اِلَّاۤ اَنۡ قَالُوۡا ائۡتُوۡا بِاٰبَآٮِٕنَاۤ اِنۡ كُنۡتُمۡ صٰدِقِيۡنَ﴿۲۵﴾ قُلِ اللّٰهُ يُحۡيِيۡكُمۡ ثُمَّ يُمِيۡتُكُمۡ ثُمَّ يَجۡمَعُكُمۡ اِلٰى يَوۡمِ الۡقِيٰمَةِ لَا رَيۡبَ فِيۡهِ وَلٰكِنَّ اَكۡثَرَ النَّاسِ لَا يَعۡلَمُوۡنَ﴿۲۶﴾ وَلِلّٰهِ مُلۡكُ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالۡاَرۡضِؕ وَيَوۡمَ تَقُوۡمُ السَّاعَةُ يَوۡمَٮِٕذٍ يَّخۡسَرُ الۡمُبۡطِلُوۡنَ﴿۲۷﴾ وَتَرٰى كُلَّ اُمَّةٍ جَاثِيَةً كُلُّ اُمَّةٍ تُدۡعَىٰۤ اِلٰى كِتٰبِهَا ؕ الۡيَوۡمَ تُجۡزَوۡنَ مَا كُنۡتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُوۡنَ﴿۲۸﴾ هٰذَا كِتٰبُنَا يَنۡطِقُ عَلَيۡكُمۡ بِالۡحَقِّؕ اِنَّا كُنَّا نَسۡتَنۡسِخُ مَا كُنۡتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُوۡنَ﴿۲۹﴾ فَاَمَّا الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا وَعَمِلُوۡا الصّٰلِحٰتِ فَيُدۡخِلُهُمۡ رَبُّهُمۡ فِىۡ رَحۡمَتِهٖؕ ذٰلِكَ هُوَ الۡفَوۡزُ الۡمُبِيۡنُ﴿۳۰﴾ وَاَمَّا الَّذِيۡنَ كَفَرُوۡۤا اَفَلَمۡ تَكُنۡ اٰيٰتِىۡ تُتۡلٰى عَلَيۡكُمۡ فَاسۡتَكۡبَرۡتُمۡ وَكُنۡتُمۡ قَوۡمًا مُّجۡرِمِيۡنَ﴿۳۱﴾ وَاِذَا قِيۡلَ اِنَّ وَعۡدَ اللّٰهِ حَقٌّ وَّالسَّاعَةُ لَا رَيۡبَ فِيۡهَا قُلۡتُمۡ مَّا نَدۡرِىۡ مَا السَّاعَةُۙ اِنۡ نَّظُنُّ اِلَّا ظَنًّا وَّمَا نَحۡنُ بِمُسۡتَيۡقِنِيۡنَ﴿۳۲﴾ وَبَدَا لَهُمۡ سَيِّاٰتُ مَا عَمِلُوۡا وَحَاقَ بِهِمۡ مَّا كَانُوۡا بِهٖ يَسۡتَهۡزِءُوۡنَ﴿۳۳﴾ وَقِيۡلَ الۡيَوۡمَ نَنۡسٰٮكُمۡ كَمَا نَسِيۡتُمۡ لِقَآءَ يَوۡمِكُمۡ هٰذَا وَمَاۡوٰٮكُمُ النَّارُ وَمَا لَكُمۡ مِّنۡ نّٰصِرِيۡنَ﴿۳۴﴾ ذٰلِكُمۡ بِاَنَّكُمُ اتَّخَذۡتُمۡ اٰيٰتِ اللّٰهِ هُزُوًا وَّغَرَّتۡكُمُ الۡحَيٰوةُ الدُّنۡيَا ۚ فَالۡيَوۡمَ لَا يُخۡرَجُوۡنَ مِنۡهَا وَلَا هُمۡ يُسۡتَعۡتَبُوۡنَ﴿۳۵﴾ فَلِلّٰهِ الۡحَمۡدُ رَبِّ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَرَبِّ الۡاَرۡضِ رَبِّ الۡعٰلَمِيۡنَ﴿۳۶﴾ وَلَهُ الۡكِبۡرِيَآءُ فِىۡ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالۡاَرۡضِ وَهُوَ الۡعَزِيۡزُ الۡحَكِيۡمُ﴿۳۷﴾

Name taken from Verse 28 where there is a mention of the word “Jathiya”.
٢٨ وَتَرَىٰ كُلَّ أُمَّةٍ جَاثِيَةً ۚ كُلُّ أُمَّةٍ تُدْعَىٰ إِلَىٰ كِتَابِهَا الْيَوْمَ تُجْزَوْنَ مَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
28 And you will see every nation kneeling [from fear]. Every nation will be called to its record [and told], “Today you will be recompensed for what you used to do.

Surah Key Verses
١٣ وَسَخَّرَ لَكُمْ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ جَمِيعًا مِنْهُ ۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَاتٍ لِقَوْمٍ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ
13 And He has subjected to you whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth – all from Him. Indeed in that is a sign for a people who give thought.
٢٣ أَفَرَأَيْتَ مَنِ اتَّخَذَ إِلَٰهَهُ هَوَاهُ وَأَضَلَّهُ اللَّهُ عَلَىٰ عِلْمٍ وَخَتَمَ عَلَىٰ سَمْعِهِ وَقَلْبِهِ وَجَعَلَ عَلَىٰ بَصَرِهِ غِشَاوَةً فَمَنْ يَهْدِيهِ مِنْ بَعْدِ اللَّهِ ۚ أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ
23 Have you seen he who has taken as his god his [own] desire, and Allah has sent him astray due to knowledge and has set a seal upon his hearing and his heart and put over his vision a veil? So who will guide him after Allah? Then will you not be reminded?
٢٤ وَقَالُوا مَا هِيَ إِلَّا حَيَاتُنَا الدُّنْيَا نَمُوتُ وَنَحْيَا وَمَا يُهْلِكُنَا إِلَّا الدَّهْرُ ۚ وَمَا لَهُمْ بِذَٰلِكَ مِنْ عِلْمٍ ۖ إِنْ هُمْ إِلَّا يَظُنُّونَ
24 And they say, “There is not but our worldly life; we die and live, and nothing destroys us except time.” And they have of that no knowledge; they are only assuming.

Explanation And Back Ground
This Surah has 37 verses divided into 4 Rukus/Sections. The name of the Surah comes from the word “جَاثِيَةً” in verse 28, which means Kneeling. As discussed in previous Surahs summary this Surah is the sixth one of the series of seven surahs that starts with the word “حم” These are Surah Ghafir, Fussilat, Shura, Zukhuruf, Dukhan, Jathiyah, and Ahqaf. The letters “حم” are called Mystery Abbreviated Letters OR Hurrof Al Muqattat. A brief introduction of which is already given in Quran Statistics & Facts.
This Surah was revealed in Mecca almost the same time as Surah Ghafir, Fussilat, Shura, Zukhuruf, and Surah Dukhan around the 4th to 7th year of Prophethood. The Surah admonishes and warn those who reject the Divine truth. It speaks about human arrogance and that the judgment of God will cover all the people. And that time the nations will stand before God in the kneeling position. This Surah answers the doubts of the disbelievers of Mecca about Tauhid and the Hereafter. It admonishes them and logically speaks that the doubt on hereafter is logically against justice and reason that the good and the bad, the righteous and the wrongdoers should be made equal and admonish them for their attitude that they had chosen against the invitation of Prophet.
The Prophet of God PBUH said: Whoever recites Surah Jathiya, God would keep his faults concealed and give him tranquility while knees would be trembling at the time of accounting.
