شروع اللہ کے نام سے جو بڑا مہربان نہایت رحم والا ہے
﴿۱﴾ بےشک انسان پر زمانے میں ایک ایسا وقت بھی آچکا ہے کہ وہ کوئی چیز قابل ذکر نہ تھی﴿۲﴾ ہم نے انسان کو نطفہٴ مخلوط سے پیدا کیا تاکہ اسے آزمائیں تو ہم نے اس کو سنتا دیکھتا بنایا﴿۳﴾ (اور) اسے رستہ بھی دکھا دیا۔ (اب) وہ خواہ شکرگزار ہو خواہ ناشکرا﴿۴﴾ ہم نے کافروں کے لئے زنجیر اور طوق اور دہکتی آگ تیار کر رکھی ہے﴿۵﴾ جو نیکو کار ہیں اور وہ ایسی شراب نوش جان کریں گے جس میں کافور کی آمیزش ہوگی﴿۶﴾ یہ ایک چشمہ ہے جس میں سے خدا کے بندے پئیں گے اور اس میں سے (چھوٹی چھوٹی) نہریں نکالیں گے﴿۷﴾ یہ لوگ نذریں پوری کرتے ہیں اور اس دن سے جس کی سختی پھیل رہی ہوگی خوف رکھتے ہیں﴿۸﴾ اور باوجود یہ کہ ان کو خود طعام کی خواہش (اور حاجت) ہے فقیروں اور یتیموں اور قیدیوں کو کھلاتے ہیں﴿۹﴾ (اور کہتے ہیں کہ) ہم تم کو خالص خدا کے لئے کھلاتے ہیں۔ نہ تم سے عوض کے خواستگار ہیں نہ شکرگزاری کے (طلبگار)﴿۱۰﴾ ہم کو اپنے پروردگار سے اس دن کا ڈر لگتا ہے (جو چہروں کو) کریہہ المنظر اور (دلوں کو) سخت (مضطر کر دینے والا) ہے﴿۱۱﴾ تو خدا ان کو اس دن کی سختی سے بچالے گا اور تازگی اور خوش دلی عنایت فرمائے گا﴿۱۲﴾ اور ان کے صبر کے بدلے ان کو بہشت (کے باغات) اور ریشم (کے ملبوسات) عطا کرے گا﴿۱۳﴾ ان میں وہ تختوں پر تکیے لگائے بیٹھے ہوں گے۔ وہاں نہ دھوپ (کی حدت) دیکھیں گے نہ سردی کی شدت﴿۱۴﴾ ان سے (ثمردار شاخیں اور) ان کے سائے قریب ہوں گے اور میوؤں کے گچھے جھکے ہوئے لٹک رہے ہوں گے﴿۱۵﴾ خدام) چاندی کے باسن لئے ہوئے ان کے اردگرد پھریں گے اور شیشے کے (نہایت شفاف) گلاس﴿۱۶﴾ اور شیشے بھی چاندی کے جو ٹھیک اندازے کے مطابق بنائے گئے ہیں﴿۱۷﴾ اور وہاں ان کو ایسی شراب (بھی) پلائی جائے گی جس میں سونٹھ کی آمیزش ہوگی﴿۱۸﴾ یہ بہشت میں ایک چشمہ ہے جس کا نام سلسبیل ہے﴿۱۹﴾ اور ان کے پاس لڑکے آتے جاتے ہوں گے جو ہمیشہ (ایک ہی حالت پر) رہیں گے۔ جب تم ان پر نگاہ ڈالو تو خیال کرو کہ بکھرے ہوئے موتی ہیں﴿۲۰﴾ اور بہشت میں (جہاں) آنکھ اٹھاؤ گے کثرت سے نعمت اور عظیم (الشان) سلطنت دیکھو گے﴿۲۱﴾ ان (کے بدنوں) پر دیبا سبز اور اطلس کے کپڑے ہوں گے۔ اور انہیں چاندی کے کنگن پہنائے جائیں گے اور ان کا پروردگار ان کو نہایت پاکیزہ شراب پلائے گا﴿۲۲﴾ یہ تمہارا صلہ اور تمہاری کوشش (خدا کے ہاں) مقبول ہوئی﴿۲۳﴾ اے محمد(ﷺ) ہم نے تم پر قرآن آہستہ آہستہ نازل کیا ہے﴿۲۴﴾ تو اپنے پروردگار کے حکم کے مطابق صبر کئے رہو اور ان لوگوں میں سے کسی بد عمل اور ناشکرے کا کہا نہ مانو﴿۲۵﴾ اور صبح وشام اپنے پروردگار کا نام لیتے رہو﴿۲۶﴾ اور رات کو بڑی رات تک سجدے کرو اور اس کی پاکی بیان کرتے رہو﴿۲۷﴾ یہ لوگ دنیا کو دوست رکھتے ہیں اور (قیامت کے) بھاری دن کو پس پشت چھوڑے دیتے ہیں﴿۲۸﴾ ہم نے ان کو پیدا کیا اور ان کے مقابل کو مضبوط بنایا۔ اور اگر ہم چاہیں تو ان کے بدلے ان ہی کی طرح اور لوگ لے آئیں﴿۲۹﴾ یہ تو نصیحت ہے۔ جو چاہے اپنے پروردگار کی طرف پہنچنے کا رستہ اختیار کرے﴿۳۰﴾ اور تم کچھ بھی نہیں چاہ سکتے مگر جو خدا کو منظور ہو۔ بےشک خدا جاننے والا حکمت والا ہے﴿۳۱﴾ جس کو چاہتا ہے اپنی رحمت میں داخل کرلیتا ہے اور ظالموں کے لئے اس نے دکھ دینے والا عذاب تیار کر رکھا ہے

This Surah has two names and both taken from verse # 1.
١ هَلْ أَتَىٰ عَلَى الْإِنْسَانِ حِينٌ مِنَ الدَّهْرِ لَمْ يَكُنْ شَيْئًا مَذْكُورًا
1 Has there [not] come upon man a period of time when he was not a thing [even] mentioned?

١ هَلْ أَتَىٰ عَلَى الْإِنْسَانِ حِينٌ مِنَ الدَّهْرِ لَمْ يَكُنْ شَيْئًا مَذْكُورًا
1 Has there [not] come upon man a period of time when he was not a thing [even] mentioned?
٢ إِنَّا خَلَقْنَا الْإِنْسَانَ مِنْ نُطْفَةٍ أَمْشَاجٍ نَبْتَلِيهِ فَجَعَلْنَاهُ سَمِيعًا بَصِيرًا
2 Indeed, We created man from a sperm-drop mixture that We may try him, and We made him hearing and seeing.
١٥ وَيُطَافُ عَلَيْهِمْ بِآنِيَةٍ مِنْ فِضَّةٍ وَأَكْوَابٍ كَانَتْ قَوَارِيرَا
15 And there will be circulated among them vessels of silver and cups having been [created] clear [as glass],
١٦ قَوَارِيرَ مِنْ فِضَّةٍ قَدَّرُوهَا تَقْدِيرًا
16 Clear glasses [made] from silver of which they have determined the measure.
١٧ وَيُسْقَوْنَ فِيهَا كَأْسًا كَانَ مِزَاجُهَا زَنْجَبِيلًا
17 And they will be given to drink a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of ginger
١٨ عَيْنًا فِيهَا تُسَمَّىٰ سَلْسَبِيلًا
18 [From] a fountain within Paradise named Salsabeel.
١٩ وَيَطُوفُ عَلَيْهِمْ وِلْدَانٌ مُخَلَّدُونَ إِذَا رَأَيْتَهُمْ حَسِبْتَهُمْ لُؤْلُؤًا مَنْثُورًا
19 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal. When you see them, you would think them [as beautiful as] scattered pearls.

Explanation And Back Ground
This Surah has 31 verses divided into 2 Rukus/Sections. It has two names Surah Insan and Surah Dahr, both taken from verse 1: “…… هَلْ أَتَىٰ عَلَى الْإِنْسَانِ حِينٌ مِنَ الدَّهْرِ” ( Has there [not] come upon man a period of time….) where the word “الإنسان” and “الدهر” meaning “Man” and “Endless Time” appears respectively. This Surah was revealed in Mecca most probably during the early days of Muhammad’s proclamation of his prophethood. Many commentators and some traditions state that it is a Medinan Surah or some of its verses esp. Verse # 8-10 were revealed in Medina.
This Surah tells about the means that a human being can accomplish physical and spiritual development. The rewards of the righteous and their character and traits are also mentioned. Many commentators of the Quran linked the revelation of verses 5 to 22: which discuss “the righteous” and the rewards that await them to an actual story of the son-in-law of Prophet, Ali, and Prophet’s daughter Fatimah. According to these traditions, because of the illness of their kids Hassan & Hussein, Ali & Fatimah vowed to God that they would fast for three days if kids become healthy. When it happened, the whole family fasted for three days. On each day at the time of opening of fast, a poor person, an Orphan, and a captive knocked on their door asking for food. They gave food to each of them. Ali, Fatimah, and their children had so little food that after this charity they had no food left and they broke their fast just by drinking water. 4th day, Prophet met with them and saw them in dreadful hunger and condition. As per traditions, this was the time when Angel Gabriel revealed these verses and congratulated Muhammad for having such a family.
It is recorded in Sahih Muslim from Ibn Abbas that the Prophet of God PBUH used to recite these in the Morning prayer on Fridays:
الٓمٓ • تَنزِيلُ
Alif Lam Mim. The revelation… Surah Sajdah
هَلۡ أَتَىٰ عَلَى ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنِ
